Tell us something about you…

My name is Erico, and I’m a Web Designer living in Sydney, Australia. I’m an adventurer at heart, and there’s nothing more than I love doing than going out there and seeing the world. Seeing different kinds of people, cities, and cultures really change your perspective on life. It’s also a good reminder that life is good and that I’m happy to be alive. As the saying goes – travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer.

How would you describe your photography style?

I would describe my photography as Lifestyle with an emphasis on nature and the landscape. Generally, I try to avoid making the people in the photos as the main subjects, rather, using them to complement the setting instead. We talked about his travels around Australia and his job, he mentioned that he was shooting in Cockatoo Island the day before and he met a few photographers there too. Coincidently, I later found out that those photographers happened to be other friends of mine who were meant to join us to this trip, but couldn’t make it on time. I could only imagine their surprise if they did come and see the very same Taylor almost 200km away!

How’d you get into Photography?

When Instagram was still in its infancy, I came across a photographer and traveler named Cole Rise (@colerise). I was so in awe by his photographs that it made me want to learn photography – so I bought a Canon 450D and taught myself online. I even got to learn from man himself, he was always happy to answer my questions. Even to this day I still look up to him.

Your favorite image? The story behind it?

The sun finally came out and the lit up the whole valley, it was quite an incredible sight. Taylor started documenting us with his camera as we go about doing our own shots and you can even find this his photo of this if you look hard enough on @natgeotravel. We were extremely pleased with our shots so we said our good byes to Taylor and made our way back home. That’s the backstory of my favorite photograph.

Place you would love to travel to?

I would love to travel to the Mediterranean and see the places there, Croatia and Greece particularly. Their rich history is so incredibly intriguing to me, but even their architecture and art is just something that I just need to see with my own eyes.

Do you have any specific goals for your Photography?

My goals would be breaking out of my current style of photography and trying something I struggle and not very comfortable with. I think the first step in that direction would be training my eyes to be able to see more interesting ways of composing my shots. My North Star be to able to shoot landscapes without the aid of using human elements, I find this incredibly difficult to do.

Your Goal for 2018?

My goals for 2018 is to try to be healthier and to enjoy the little things in life because I realise that it’s those little things that you’ll miss the most when you’re older and weaker.
